Happy 4th of July to all of you! Is there anything better than the aroma of barbecue and fireworks in the air? My in-laws make wonderful barbecued ribs and all the fixings that the family loves. It’s always a good time and fun to witness the kids’ excitement watching the fireworks. We usually participate in our neighborhood parade in the morning. Our daughter, Ellie, loves decorating her bike for the parade and cruising down the street with all of the other patriots. What fun we’ve had transforming her bike! It truly is the little things in life.

Last month, we took our family vacation to Kansas City and visited Worlds of Fun. Once again my husband (and nephew, Carlin) managed to get me on a ride that I regretted almost the entire time. Ugh! At least the “Patriot” was a short ride as compared to the ride I went on two years ago, “Cyclone Sam,” which seemed to last an eternity. Forwards, backwards, up and down, and going round and round all at the same time. You get the picture…my husband was dead meat! I used to really enjoy the excitement of the “Orient Express,” the “Timber Wolf,” and all the other roller coasters. Now that I am a bit older, these rides seem like a great idea until I’m in my seat and it’s too late to get off. Oh, to be eighteen and invincible again! We also visited Camp Snoopy which the kids loved. Even Aspen, our two-year-old, got on stage with Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the gang. She was exchanging “high-fives” with them and singing along as though they were all long lost friends. It was a great trip with wonderful hospitality from Joe’s brother and sister-in-law.
