Burro Birthday Bash and Bluegrass Festival

Western Museum of Mining & Industry's mascot burros are celebrating another birthday (HEE HAW), and we are celebrating by throwing a party for you! Museum tours, gold panning, and outside machinery operations will be available topped off by a meet & greet with the burros and a rockin' afternoon concert with multiple bluegrass bands! Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for teens,12 and under free. Food and drink vendors will be on site for this special event! Picnics and lawn chairs/blankets encouraged. Annual Pikes Peak EcoFestival: Good, Green Fun for the Entire Family
The Pikes Peak EcoFestival returns for its second year on Saturday, Aug. 28 bringing together environment, community and history to benefit Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site. The mission of the Pikes Peak EcoFestival is to educate and inspire the Pikes Peak Region to live more sustainably. The event includes eco-conscious exhibitors, live music, family activities, workshops, beer garden, local food, eco-auto display and more.
Families will enjoy activities, entertainment and a Family Comfort Area. Activities include gymnastics on the lawn with Aerial Gymnastics on 8th Street, live music, performing artists and entertainment. Local art organizations will lead children in eco or recycled art projects in the Eco Art Tent sponsored by the Bee Vradenburg Foundation. A Family Comfort Area will be provided for families with small children to relax and cool off.
The Pikes Peak EcoFestival is southern Colorado’s outdoor, eco-focused community festival and benefit for Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site. Last year, the Pikes Peak EcoFestival raised more than $2,000 for the local living history ranch. Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site is an educational, non-profit living history farm and museum depicting life in the Pikes Peak region throughout four different time periods. www.RockLedgeRanch.com
The EcoFestival begins at 10 a.m., ends at 4 p.m. and takes place at Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site, nestled on the east side of Garden of the Gods Park. Admission is $4 per person with children 12 and under getting in for free. www.PikesPeakEcoFestival.com

Library District creates new Job Help on Web site
People looking for employment can now go to Pikes Peak Library District’s new “Job Help” site, a one-stop shop for all PPLD’s job-hunting resources.
Go to ppld.org and click on the Job Help link. The new web page on ppld.org was created in response to growing demand from patrons who are unemployed or underemployed and looking for help with everything from resumes and cover letters to applying for unemployment and searching for new jobs.
Library staff have pulled the best of the Web and put it in one place for easy access by the public. It offers relevant, up-to-date information on El Paso County agencies, links to free tutoring and training sites, librarian-recommended reading lists and Web sites, and more.
